Kelly B. Mahaney, MD, FAANS

Dr. Kelly Mahaney is Assistant Professor of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Stanford University and Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital/Stanford Children’s Health. She specializes in the care of children with hydrocephalus, craniovertebral junction abnormalities, myelomeningocele, congenital spinal abnormalities, and craniosynostosis. Dr. Mahaney completed her neurosurgical residency at the University of Iowa, where she completed a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation during residency. She then completed Pediatric Neurosurgical training at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto followed by fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at The Barrow Neurologic Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. 

Dr. Mahaney’s research is focused on delineating the risk factors for and the underlying pathophysiology of neonatal post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus, in order to develop better treatment strategies and improve patient outcomes.
