Lauren Simpson, MD, MPH
Dr. Simpson is completing a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Children’s of Alabama at the University of Alabama, Birmingham under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Blount. She studied brain, behavior and cognitive science as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She earned a Master of Public Health degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, while completing her medical degree at Duke University. She has participated in and written about sustainable health care capacity building in low- and middle-income countries. Her long-term academic interests involve social determinants of health and health care disparities. She is interested in understanding and addressing mechanisms for favorable outcomes, quality improvement and enhanced value for provision of comprehensive health care for the pediatric neurosurgical patient population.
