Philipp R. Aldana, MD, FAANS
Dr. Aldana is a professor of neurosurgery and pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville (UF-J), where he is chief of the division of pediatric neurosurgery. He also holds the H.E. James endowed chair in pediatric neurosurgery at Wolfson Children’s Hospital (WCH), and serves as the co-director of the Stys Neuroscience Institute. He has gained national recognition for his work on stroke research in sickle cell disease. He has special interests in neuro-endoscopy, stroke, neuro-oncology and spine surgery and has authored over 50 peer reviewed publications and book chapters. He serves in leadership roles in organized neurosurgery, including the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Neurological Surgery and the Executive Committee of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Section in Pediatric Neurosurgery, where he is the current Chair of the International Education Committee. Together with his wife Carmina, he founded the Neurosurgery Outreach Foundation to advance neurosurgical care in underserved communities.
