Jonathon J. Parker MD, PhD
Dr. Parker is a sixth year resident at Stanford University. He completed his MD/PhD in the NIH-funded Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Colorado. His graduate thesis work on tumor cell invasion in glioblastoma under the mentorship of neurosurgeon-scientist, Dr. Allen Waziri, brought him to neurosurgery. As a resident at Stanford, Dr. Parker has cultivated a passion for epilepsy surgery, with a focus on neuromodulation and minimally invasive and brain mapping techniques. At Stanford, he completed a combined enfolded adult and pediatric epilepsy and stereotactic neurosurgery fellowship with Dr. Casey Halpern and Dr. Gerald Grant. His research in Dr. Grant’s laboratory focuses on development of novel techniques for assessing cortical responses to brain stimulation delivered in gray and white matter using a large-animal model. Dr. Parker is pursuing combining his research interests with clinical training in pediatric neurosurgery to expand minimally invasive options for medication refractory pediatric epilepsy and movement disorder.
