Kathrin Zimmerman
Kathrin Zimmerman is an MD/MSPH student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a degree in peace and conflict studies. While in medical school, she has completed an NIH TL1 Clinical Research Fellowship in the division of pediatric neurosurgery at UAB, and a Paul Farmer Global Surgery Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. She has been awarded the Hydrocephalus Association Young Investigator Travel Award for her research twice consecutively and is the founder of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons Medical Student Chapter at UAB. Prior to medical school, she taught fifth grade in Los Angeles and worked for a non-profit organization in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
