Mohammed Alshareef, MD
Dr. Alshareef is a sixth year neurosurgery resident at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He obtained his medical degree from MUSC and has a strong interest in pediatric neurosurgery with a clinical focus on pediatric spinal deformity. He also has a strong basic science interest in germinal matrix hemorrhage and the subsequent development of hydrocephalus and periventricular leukomalacia. As a recent recipient of an NREF grant, Dr. Alshareef is now continuing his second year of basic sciences research in the Tomlinson Immunology Laboratory at MUSC. His work includes the development of a germinal matrix hemorrhage mouse model and the use of targeted complement inhibitors to mitigate its sequelae.
